How to Keep Company Uniforms Organized During a Move or Renovation
Sorted by department or size, clean and ready to wear the day you reopen.

In a hotel, restaurant, clinic or sports centre, uniforms often mean hundreds of pieces, sorted by department, size or employee. That organization was built over time — and it disappears in a single morning the day work starts.
The scenario is always the same: everything ends up in piles in a back room or bags stacked in a hallway. At reopening, you have to sort, clean and press, at the worst possible moment.
The real problem is losing the sort order
People underestimate the value of the existing organization. Working out which uniform belongs to which department, in which size, takes hours once everything is mixed. And in the meantime, staff cannot get back to work normally.
By moving uniforms hanging in separate containers, that sort order is preserved intact. You do not reorganize: you redeploy.
A simple method to apply
- One box per department, size or floor, clearly labelled on the outside
- Uniforms stay on their hangers, in the order they were in
- The box stays closed for the whole project: no dust, no plaster, no moisture
- Stackable in a room, container or warehouse until reopening day
- Plan one extra box: it will hold the pieces found along the way
Construction dust, enemy number one
A renovation generates fine plaster and concrete dust that settles everywhere and works into fibres. A uniform left in the open through two weeks of work will need rewashing, even if it started clean.
A closed, rigid container removes that cleaning cost entirely — often the most expensive line in a uniform move, because it multiplies by the number of pieces.
Ready on reopening day
On the day, every staff member picks up a clean, pressed uniform exactly where they left it. No day lost reorganizing the locker room, no missing outfit to replace in a hurry.
For a property reopening, that is invisible to guests but decisive internally: the team starts complete and in the right conditions.
Plan this before work begins
Count the pieces to move, decide the sorting criterion (department, size or person) and label the containers before you start. Thirty minutes of preparation saves a full day of sorting at the end.
